In 1968 Lima started to produce American models in N-scale with big success. Maybe we have to see this as the starting point. One year later, 1969, lima introduced a B&O Caboose and a 40 ft. Container Flat Car in N-scale, using the same pictures as in the H0-Catalogue of the same year.

Due to the success of their N-Trains, Lima for sure tried to launch American H0 and repeat the success. Similarily to N, Lima produced European passenger coaches in American colours and then introduced their regular US-range (freight cars and locomotives). Yet it took until 1971 to see real US models (ALCO steamers) in the catalogues, freight stock from 1973.

The dark blue B&O caboose was produced, early cabooses (B&O, Seaboard/SCL) had the bay window as a separate piece. from around 1974 the bay window was part of the body casting.

http://www.rivarossi-memory.it/LIMA/Cat ... 0_N_18.jpg

http: //lima-modeltrain-collectors.xobor ... s-ENG.html

Thanks for these further clarifications.
In fact, I now remember reading somewhere (but I no longer remember where), who used the images originally from the N scale catalog in the H0 scale catalog ...
I did not remember this and therefore I was wrong: oops: believing that they had stolen the image from others ...!
But did those N-scale wagons actually make them all?
And who knows why they made such beautiful carts in N scale and not also in H0? Or in any case just someone and in any case less beautiful?
For example the "Flat" wagon with the two containers and the vertical brake handwheel seems to me much better and more beautiful than the one made in H0 scale.

The evolution of the caboose is also very interesting ...!

Saluti. Riccardo.

Hi Riccardo,

thanks so much for your translations! I really apreciate.

The N-scale flat was definately made with "Great Northern" roadname (not POZ FS Italia).

The model in this picture has no brakewheel (maybe lost), but I found another one with different load and brakewheel.

I personally like the H0 scale 50 ft. flat car, it looks quite good with containers.

As for catalogue images, Lima sometimes used H0 models in their N-scale programme, or models from other manufacturers for their "Novità" announcements. Other companies did the same.

Cheers and stay safe,

Martin

(...sorry if I didn't answer you before )
( Meanwhile, I put the translation of your last message.)

https://trovestar.com/images/Collection ... 566_19.jpg

Traduco:
I thank you for your kind appreciation and your precise and sympathetic answers
Indeed, as far as translations are concerned, (English / Italian), as I have already said, I only use an automatic translator, which I have to "adapt" and interpret to give a reasonable sense to the sentences, because often very senseless things are written ... .
In the same way, but in the opposite direction, I hope that the English translation of my words, which I cannot adequately assess whether it is correct or not, is truly understandable.

Returning to the 40 ft. "Flat" type wagon, with the load of cable reels (which uses only about half the surface), in H0 scale, it is possible that they have used the same load (piece / mold) also for the model in N scale?

Cordialissimi saluti.
Riccardo.
